Insurance
My practice is private pay only which means I do not accept insurance plans for several reasons:

1) Decisions regarding your mental health should be determined by you and your therapist, not the insurance company. Billing insurance companies often leads to a third party dictating the duration of our work and how we work together. Insurance companies have to approve the need for therapy and the type of treatment being provided before they will pay. Insurance companies may set limits on the number of times you can meet with a therapist.

2) We can address your challenges and concerns without the requirement of a clinical diagnosis. If your reason for seeking therapy does not fit into a specific diagnostic definition, insurance may not cover it. Insurance plans usually require a diagnosis for mental health services, which may not be appropriate for your concerns.

3) Increased confidentiality. Your insurance company may require information about your mental health care in order to make a decision regarding payment for your services. Your record may be reviewed by several people during this process and approval of payment for services is not guaranteed.

Out-of-Network benefits: Your insurance plan may offer out-of-network reimbursement in which they will cover part of the fee for services when you see a therapist that is not in their network. If your insurance plan offers this benefit, I can provide you with a Superbill upon request that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement directly to you. To find out more about your benefits, please contact your insurance company regarding the specific details of your coverage (i.e., ask about coverage for out-of-network mental health outpatient services). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this.

If you find that you are unable to continue paying for your sessions for any reason, please let me know. I will help you consider options that may be available to you.
